"Drop, Cover, Hold" During Statewide Earthquake Drill

For the fourth year in a row, the state is participating in the Great Washington ShakeOut. It’s an earthquake drill emphasizing “drop, cover and hold.” It’s coming up mid-October, but schools and communities throughout North Central Washington are already preparing.

Even though wildfires throughout our region are dying down and getting contained, the long road to rehabilitation is just starting. Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) teams usually only cover federal lands, but through a partnership with the Okanogan Conservation District, this year they'll include state and private lands.

Student Reporter Denied Access to School District Meeting

The Wenatchee School District held a press conference yesterday to convey their perspective on contract negotiations. The Apple Leaf newspaper sent a reporter, Moses Lurbur, but he was denied entrance to the meeting. That didn’t sit well with the editorial staff nor their adviser Dave Riggs. KOHO News Intern Chris Danko has more.
