CD Land Trust Buys Entiat River Salmon Habitat

Talking about the on-going efforts of the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust to preserve not only the pristine wilderness in our area, but also critical habitats for our native fish and wildlife populations. It’s been many years in the works, but the Trust has closed on purchasing land in the Stillwater reach of the Entiat River, about 25 miles up the Entiat Valley, all for salmon protection. Dan Langager reports.

Appealing FEMA Aid, Or Lack Thereof

After President Obama declared federal dollars for infrastructure building in Okanogan County, but not for individuals who were affected, Washington delegates sent a letter to FEMA appealing and asking to include individual and small business aid money. U.S. Congressman Dave Reichert spoke with our sister station KOZI news director Jay Witherbee about the appeal.


Fireworks Ban Discussed at City Hall

There's no denying the potential danger fireworks pose during our hot, dry annual fire season. One young East Wenatchee girl’s concerns of fireworks causing too much harm in our area went one step further at a public meeting yesterday in Wenatchee. While no decision was reached, local officials met and discussed ideas to make the Wenatchee Valley safer during the 4th of July. KOHO News Intern Bryce Newberry filed this report.
