Teams Assessing Fire-Damaged Landscapes

Even though wildfires throughout our region are dying down and getting contained, the long road to rehabilitation is just starting. Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) teams usually only cover federal lands, but through a partnership with the Okanogan Conservation District, this year they'll include state and private lands.

Student Reporter Denied Access to School District Meeting

The Wenatchee School District held a press conference yesterday to convey their perspective on contract negotiations. The Apple Leaf newspaper sent a reporter, Moses Lurbur, but he was denied entrance to the meeting. That didn’t sit well with the editorial staff nor their adviser Dave Riggs. KOHO News Intern Chris Danko has more.

Mediation Starts Today for Wenatchee Teachers and District

Today and tomorrow a state mediator is sitting down with leaders of the Wenatchee School District and the Teacher’s Union to hash out an agreement that will satisfy both parties. Yesterday we heard from teachers and the union. Today we’re getting the district’s perspective. Dan Langager reports.

Wenatchee Teachers Attempting to Work to Contract

As contract negotiations continues, Wenatchee teachers voted unanimously to “work to contract” starting tomorrow until a settlement with the school district is reached. KOHO news intern Chris Danko, online editor for the Apple Leaf newspaper, filed this report.
