Suspect Arrested in Connection with Sleepy Hollow Fire

Yesterday afternoon Chelan County Sheriff's Office detectives booked 37-year-old Jeremy J. Kendall into the Chelan County Jail for Arson in the First Degree related to the Sleepy Hollow Fire near Wenatchee last June.

Forest Service Receives Record Applications for Enchantments Camping

One of the most sought-after places for overnight backpacking in the North Cascades is the Enchantments area. The annual permit application period closed March 2 and the Forest Service received a record number of applications, over 19,000.

Officials Hold Public Meeting on Unstable Squilchuck Slope

Geotechnicians continue assessing the unstable slope above Whispering Ridge Road. Officials with Chelan County, the Chelan PUD and others held a public meeting yesterday at the Beehive Grange to provide details to the 26 homes at imminent risk.


PUD Revises High-Density Load Rate Proposal

The Chelan PUD Board of Commissioners heard additional public comment on a proposed rate for energy-intense users and provided direction to staff on further developing a new rate class for customers such as data servers, block-chain and bitcoin operations.
