Summer is not just time for flip-flops, BBQs, vacations and sun tans, it’s also that time of year when construction crews hit the road – literally. This summer has been no exception, with projects underway across the Wenatchee Valley and North Central Washington. The State Transportation Department has its fair share of road work, with one of its largest projects for the region wrapping up this week. Due to chipsealing, Highway 97A is now closed from Pat and Mikes in Chelan to and the Knapp Hill Tunnel (Mileposts 214-232). You can detour via State Route 971 in Navarre Canyon or take the Douglas County side of Highway 97. For the details on that project and more, Dan Langager filed this report.
