Wenatchee Valley College Music and Arts Center Construction Bids Exceed Engineer's Project Cost Estimates

May 18, 2011

There was good news

and bad news during Tuesday’s bid opening for the Wenatchee Valley College Music and Arts Center project.

College officials were pleased with the fact that nine construction companies submitted bids. But none of the

quotes came in under the engineers estimate leaving officials scratching their heads for answers… Wenatchee

Bureau Chief Steve Hair attended the bid opening and afterwards talked with WVC President, Jim Richardson . . The

apparent low bidder for the project was Graham Construction with a quote of 6.8 Million dollars. The College Board

of Trustees will discuss the bidding process and where to go from here at their regularly scheduled meeting this

(Wed) afternoon. Also attending Tuesday’s bid opening was Wenatchee Valley College Foundation president, Ron

Lodge. The foundation contributed one million dollars toward the facilities construction. An additional one

million dollar donation came from the Icicle Fund in Leavenworth.
