Wenatchee Student Dies in School Pool

    A ninth

grader from Wenatchee High School passed away Thursday. A news release from the School District said Antonio Reyes

was found unconscious in the school’s pool at about 10:40 am. He was taken to Central Washington Hospital

for resuscitation efforts. But the hospital announced at 2pm that he had died. 

Wenatchee High school was put on temporary lock down mode during the incident, which is normal procedure for

emergency situations. The incident is being investigated by the Wenatchee Police Department with full cooperation

from the Wenatchee School District.
    The school district issued a statement Thursday

afternoon, saying, “We are greatly saddened by the tragic loss of Antonio Reyes.”

/>    Community and school counselors will continue to work with students as they deal with the

loss of their classmate.
    “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes

family,” said Superintendent Brian Flones, “We are grateful for all the community members who have

lent their support.”
