Social service volunteers will once again be
combing the streets of Wenatchee Thursday afternoon as part of the annual homeless headcount. This year advocates
for the homeless say they expect to find more people who either sleep in the streets, cars, shelters or shacking
out with friends or family. Phoebe Nelson with the Women’s Resource Center coordinates the homeless headcount.
Steve Hair talked to her about the census and the related resource fair also slated for Thursday afternoon at the
Wenatchee Community Center . . Last year’s headcount totaled 750 homeless people in Wenatchee but Nelson says she
expects that number to increase this year . .
