State Public School Chief Backs Legislation That Changes the Way Teachers are Evaluated

February 17, 2011

State Superintendent Randy

Dorn testified this week to the House Education Committee on legislation that would base reductions in force on

teacher evaluations. Dorn talked about House Bill 1609 on today’s KOHO Morning Show. He said the bill would

change the way school districts deal with teacher layoffs. He says the system put in place years ago did not help

ineffective teachers improve and it did not do a good job of removing ineffective teachers.
