With the Mills Canyon Fire continuing to burn, as well as others across North Central Washington, seeing wildfires tamped out gives us all some relief. But even after wild land fires are done burning, their scars don’t leave for some time. One area fire that charred a good amount of the Wenatchee foothills over the last weekend was the Skyline Drive Fire. The Saddlerock trail system was closed while firefighters worked to quell the 180-acre blaze. Today, all those trails are back open. But were they hurt? What kind of rehabilitation is in order? For the answers to those questions and more, Stewardship Director with the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust Neal Hedges joined us here in the KOHO studio.
