Oktoberfest Time In Leavenworth

September 30, 2011

Batten down the

hatches, Leavenworth. Oktoberfest is here. Townsfolk and business owners alike are preparing for the

more than thirty thousand revelers who will cheer the Autumn, wear funny hats and drink beer over the next three

weekends.

All that fun makes for a whole lot of money. Before the bills were paid,

Oktoberfest pulled in 1.3 million dollars for Project Bayern, the Bavarian group in Leavenworth. Project

Bayern President Bob Francis and Larry Meyer say after the bills are paid and seed money’s set aside for

next year, that number is a lot lower. KOHO’s Clint Strand talks with them to get the figures on how

much the event clears, and where the money goes.
