Oktoberfest Officials Prepare for More Crowds

October 11, 2012

By all accounts the first

of three weekends of the Leavenworth Oktoberfest was a success. Crowds came, but stayed largely in control.

However, last year it was the second weekend of the festival when things got crazy, with crowds overwhelming the

festival’s capacity and overall a more aggressively drunken vibe, according to law enforcement officials.

       To talk about this

year’s Oktoberfest, and how beer soaked crowds are cared for and kept in control, Isaac Kaplan-Woolner spoke

with Bob Francis, a Chelan County Sheriff’s Deputy, Leavenworth City Councilman. Francis is alio the

president of Projekt Bayern, the group responsible for the

festivities.
