LISTENER COMMENTARY: County Noise Ordinance Won't Go Far Enough

March 29, 2012

Noise is a hot topic once

again. We just heard from Nancy Smith with the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, who opposes the proposed updates

to the county noise code.

County Commissioners are looking for a way to crack down on noise nuisances

in the county. Nancy Smith with the Leavenworth Chamber opposes the changes, saying they are too vague and could

impact business and chamber events.

But listener Werner Janssen opposes the noise code update for an

entirely different reason. Janssen wants the county to crack down on Vacation Home Rentals, and he says the noise

ordinance is an ineffectual tool for that goal. The following piece is a listener commentary, and does not

necessarily reflect the views of KOHO Radio.
