A key local economic indicator shows Chelan and Douglas county on the road to recovery .
The bearer of good news is Mark Berreth, the State Regional Labor Economist in Wenatchee. Wenatchee Bureau Chief
Steve Hair talked to him about most recent labor market numbers . . .
Berreth tracks the monthly jobless
numbers in this area and the January unemployment rate dropped to 10.1 percent. . .
Going forward Berreth says
he expects the labor market to improve into the spring and summer . .
And Berreth says the local economy
appears to be in a good position compared with other counties in North Central Washington or for that matter the
State as a whole…
Meanwhile, January’s jobless rate improved to 13.4 percent in Okanogan County, Grant County
registered a 13.3 percent unemployment rate also down from January 2010.
