January Jobless Numbers Drop For Third Streaight Month In Chelan Douglas Counties

A key local economic indicator shows Chelan and Douglas county on the road to recovery .

The bearer of good news is Mark Berreth, the State Regional Labor Economist in Wenatchee. Wenatchee Bureau Chief

Steve Hair talked to him about most recent labor market numbers . . .
Berreth tracks the monthly jobless

numbers in this area and the January unemployment rate dropped to 10.1 percent. . .
Going forward Berreth says

he expects the labor market to improve into the spring and summer . .
And Berreth says the local economy

appears to be in a good position compared with other counties in North Central Washington or for that matter the

State as a whole…
Meanwhile, January’s jobless rate improved to 13.4 percent in Okanogan County, Grant County

registered a 13.3 percent unemployment rate also down from January 2010.
