After a career
spanning more than 4 decades, Phil Stanley will retire from his position as director of the Chelan County Jail. He
joined us by phone to share his thoughts on what is next, plus a look back at working at the jail. Stanley noted
the rapid growth of technology and improved training in aiding his work. He also said an increase in women in the
workforce is a positive development. And he shared the changes in the philosophy behind incarceration over the
last 40 years. Finally, Stanley shared the challenges his successor will face.
