Heroin Use Exploding in NCW

October 19, 2011

According to police records, Meth use in our valley is down compared to

last year. Usually this would be cause for celebration, but another troubling trend has risen in its

place…the skyrocketing use of heroin in the Chelan and Douglas county areas. Listen to these

numbers…this year the Columbia River Drug Task Force confiscated 541 grams of meth, down from 706 grams

last year. But last year, the Task Force only confiscated 5 grams of heroin…this year? 310

GRAMS. Why? Who’s doing it? And what’s being done to combat the problem?
