Health District Budget Cuts Claim Environmental Health Director's Position

June 15, 2011

The latest round of layoffs at the Chelan Douglas County Health

District has claimed the agency’s director of environmental health. . .
Health Board member, Ken Stanton says

the agency’s chief administrator, Barry Kling will now take on Marquis duties which include restaurant inspections

and permitting. The Health District will also lose one of its Information Technology directors for a total cost

savings of about 190 thousand dollars in salaries. . .
I talked with Stanton about the layoffs and how

continuing state and federal budget cuts have threatened public health services. You can hear that interview on

Wednesday’s KOHO Morning Show with Clint Strand.
