Growers Worried About Late Season, Labor Shortage

September 21, 2011

As we move into fall here

in the Apple Capitol, the tree fruit industry is once again in full swing. But the slow, cool spring may delay the

harvest by several weeks. Fruit could be lost to cold weather before it is ripe.
And growers are concerned

about a possible shortage of labor, which could mean some fruit goes unpicked on the trees if not enough pickers

show up.

industries, KOHO’s Isaac Kaplan-Woolner called an area expert.
