Governor Proposes Stark Budget Cuts

October 28, 2011

On Thursday Governor Chris Gregoire unveiled her budget proposal, aimed at fixing a

$2 billion budget hole. The cuts are stark and drastic, eliminating state healthcare for the poor, halving school

levy equalization to poor school districts, slashing higher education budgets, and shortening supervision time for

convicts, among others.
Gregoire says her options are limited, but will welcome feedback

from the public before she releases her final supplemental budget proposal before November's special session.

/>    Gregoire joined KOHO’s Isaac Kaplan-Woolner by phone to outline her budget
