With temperatures in some areas dipping into the low 20’s, growers are doing all they can to protect the
fruit and trees. Andy Gale supervises the field operations for Stemilt Growers in the Wenatchee area . . .

Gale says this year’s growing season has seen some
wildly fluctuating weather conditions that have resulted in fruit damage. Last week some East Wenatchee area
orchards sustained wind damage when apples were blown off the trees. Gale says the damage in some cases extends to
the trees themselves which could have a negative impact on next year’s crop. We’ll have more details
