Cougar Shot and Killed in Wenatchee Residential Neighborhood

April 11, 2011

Kids waiting for the school bus in

one Wenatchee neighborhood may have been startled when they saw police and Fish and Wildlife officers pursuing a

mountain lion this (Monday) morning. Steve Hair reports . .
A young cougar was shot and killed this morning

after State Fish and Wildlife officers chased it through a Residential area of Wenatchee. Rich Beausoleil (BOE-

suh-lay) is a cougar and bear specialist with Fish and Wildlife.

There have been numerous cougar sitings

in Chelan County this spring. Several have been spotted over the last couple of weeks in the upper valley area

near Leavenworth. Beausoleil says they’re mainly attracted to the deer that come out of the mountains looking for

forage . . Beausoleil advises residents also to keep close tabs on your pet dogs and cats during this time of the

year. Residents are also urged to call 911, if you spot a bear or cougar prowling your neighborhood.
