Badger Mountain Fire spreads to 2000 acres

A lightning-sparked

brush Fire has Blackened 2000 acres of Brush and wheaetland along the North side of Badger Mountain Road in

Douglas County. The fire was first reported at 4:45 and within an hour had become a two-alarm fire with additional

brush trucks and tenders being brought in from Chelan and Douglas Counties. Kay McKellar is the spokesperson for

the fire. She says winds in excess of 40 mph were fanning the flames as of 8 pm last night. She said no homes are

threatened and none have been damaged. The sprawling fancher Heights subdivision at the lower end of Badger

Mountain road is not threatened at this time. The Douglas County Sheriff’s department will be assessing the

situation to determine if residents should be notified. No evacuations have been issued. Badger Mountain Road is

closed above canyon hills drive and Fancher road.
