Leavenworth
Washington may not be crowded
but our webcast can be. We
get listeners from all over
the world.
That is why we are
streaming with Abacast.
The
standard Internet broadcast
model requires us to purchase
bandwidth for every single
person that listens. We must
make an educated guess as to
how many people will be listening
during our peak times, and
then buy bandwidth for that
many for every hour of the
day.
With
Abacast, the bandwidth requirements
are shared. Abacast's distributed
streaming technology harnesses
unused client bandwidth to
serve other nearby clients.
This means that when you listen
to KOHO, you may also be serving
it to another listener. It
will only do this if you have
enough bandwidth to support
it.
If
you are curious about how it
works you can learn more here.
Follow
these steps to experience the
current version of our streaming
software:
1.
Make sure your system is powerful
enough to handle streaming
media. The current Abacast
streaming software requires
Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP. You'll
also need at least a 56K modem
connection, although high quality
results require a broadband
connection.
2.
Make sure you have Windows
Media Player installed
on your computer.
