WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said on Monday there were "several days" of cleanup still ahead after a storm dumped two feet (61 cm) of snow in the U.S. capital and urged residents to stay home if they can. The Washington metro system, on limited service early on Monday, will open all its stations within the city at 11 a.m. (1600 GMT), Bowser said. More rail and bus service in the Washington, D.C.-area Metro system will be restored on Tuesday after a blizzard forced severe cutbacks, the system's general manager said on Monday. All rail services except the Silver Line in Virginia will be running on a modified weekday schedule, while bus services will expanded to a "severe" schedule, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority General Manager Paul Wiedefeld told a news conference.

Naghmeh Abedini is pictured in the home of her parents in West Boise, IdahoSaeed Abedini, an American pastor freed this month from an Iranian prison as part of a U.S.-Iranian prisoner swap, said in a television interview aired on Monday that he was tortured and left in solitary confinement for refusing to sign a false confession and saw other prisoners being taken to be hanged. Abedini told Fox News that while in Tehran's Evin prison he was beaten by interrogators, left with an al Qaeda prisoner who tried to kill him and watched people screaming and crying while taken to be hanged. "Yes, in interrogation once they beat me very badly because they wanted me to write something I didn't do ... Actually it was in a courtroom that the judge closed the door and the interrogators started beating me, and at that time I got a stomach bleeding," he told Fox News.

The roadway is bare and wet. A traffic light is directing traffic through a single lane near the repaired areas both east and west of the pass. Drivers can expect delays at the signals. Starting Monday, Jan 25 WSDOT will be installing a new culvert across US 12 at the MP 154. The signal will be shut off and flaggers used. There may be times that the road will be closed for up to 30 minutes at a time. This work will 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the next five days.
