By Jennifer Dobner SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) - Three activist groups flew a blimp emblazoned with the words "Illegal Spying Below" over the National Security Agency's data center in Utah on Friday in protest against the federal government's mass surveillance programs. The one-hour flight over the high-tech facility was launched by the environmental group Greenpeace, digital rights activists the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and a conservative political organization, the Tenth Amendment Center. The 135-foot-long (41-meter-long) blimp, which is owned by Greenpeace, was adorned with a sign that read, "NSA Illegal Spying Below." In an email to Reuters, the agency declined to comment.

Detroit police may seek charges in case of boy found in basement

Detroit police said on Friday they are pursuing possible charges in the case of a 12-year-old boy reported missing for 11 days before being found alive in his family's basement as local authorities and federal agents continued their investigation. Charlie Bothuell V was reported missing on June 14, triggering search efforts. He was discovered on Wednesday as police looked for evidence on his disappearance, finding the boy in the basement of a townhouse east of Detroit that he shared with his father, stepmother and two younger siblings. No one has been charged in the case, but Detroit Police Sergeant Michael Woody told local media that charges were possible.

Elizabeth Fechtel, a 20-year-old student at the University of Florida, won this year's pageant in front of nearly 2,000 spectators last Saturday in St. Petersburg, Florida. The true Miss Florida contest winner was Victoria Cowen, a 21-year-old student at Florida State University. After the Florida mix-up came to light this week, pageant organizers sought an independent review, said Mary Sullivan, executive director of the Miss Florida pageant.
