The U.S. Air Force said on Wednesday said it still expected to declare an initial squadron of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets ready for combat between August and December, despite delays in the jets' computer-based logistics system. The four-star generals who run Air Combat Command and Air Force Materiel Command reviewed flight milestones and other aspects of the $379 billion F-35 program at Hill Air Force Base in Utah last week. The Pentagon's F-35 program office, Lockheed, pilots and maintenance specialists also took part.

Settlement talks between lawyers representing Redstone and former girlfriend Manuela Herzer, who filed the lawsuit last November, have broken down over the past 48 hours and litigation has "resumed," according to the Herzer court filing. Redstone's lawyers argued in a separate filing that he should not have to endure an invasive deposition in order to preserve his right to be heard at trial.

One dead, 11 hurt in hydrogen sulfide release in Austin, Texas

(Reuters) - One person died and at least 11 were injured in an incident involving hazardous hydrogen sulfide gas at an apartment complex near the University of Texas at Austin on Wednesday, fire officials said. Austin firefighters responded to a hazardous materials call from an apartment at the complex and found a man believed to be in his 20s dead at the scene, said Austin Fire Department Lieutenant Kevin Haas. A woman who manages the property, which houses college students, was in stable condition at a hospital after being exposed to what appeared to be hydrogen sulfide, Austin's KXAN-TV reported.
