Cuban migrant recounts nightmare voyage on raft

Yahoo! National News - Wed, 10/29/2014 - 05:14

Rafter Joel Moreno, left, rescued near Miami, kisses his father Luis Felipe Moreno, right, who left Cuba in the 1980 Mariel boat lift and have been separated since then, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, in Miami. Moreno, 39, says the men traveled in a homemade raft powered by a boat motor and could see lights off the coast of Florida within six hours of leaving Cojimar, Cuba. The motor ran out of gas before they reached shore. On their second day at sea, a strong wave overturned the raft, dumping all their water and food into the ocean. On Sunday, Moreno decided to break the raft apart, giving each man a piece to hold and try to swim to shore. Authorities have located 11 of the men. Two remain missing. It Looks Like Midtown's Troubled Music City Tippler Will Close This Weekend

Yahoo! Music News - Wed, 10/29/2014 - 05:09

It Looks Like Midtown's Troubled Music City Tippler Will Close This WeekendAfter a little over a year in business, it looks like Music City Tippler, the Midtown restaurant and bar that has struggled for a large part of its short life, will shutter permanently this weekend. Back in August, local restaurant group Strategic Hospitality was hired on in what appeared to be a last ditch effort by the Tippler owners to save the project, but Eater has now received a tip from a trusted source saying that an 'empty the bar' party will be taking place this weekend, something typically done as a last hurrah. Additionally, a social media post from former Tippler general manager Daniel Cheney confirms this, stating that his sources tell him this Friday night will be the restaurant's last.
