Crawford did not have sex with either of the animals, the deputy added.

The lawsuit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio for the protesters, accuses the city, Mayor Frank Jackson and Police Chief Calvin Williams of violating their rights over the Memorial Day holiday weekend when the verdict was announced. The lawsuit said police used arrests and custodial detentions to deter and incapacitate protesters, herding them into a small alley way and blocking their exit before ordering them to disperse and arresting them for failing to do so.

A Rhode Island court on Monday overturned the 1992 murder conviction of the son of a former Providence sheriff on the basis of new DNA evidence in the case, raising the prospect of his imminent release after more than two decades in prison. Raymond "Beaver" Tempest Jr., now 62, is serving an 85-year sentence after his conviction in 1982 murder of 22-year-old Doreen Picard, a case that rocked Rhode Island for a decade. State Attorney General Peter Kilmartin has vowed to appeal the decision by Superior Court Judge Daniel A. Procaccini, who declined to release Tempest on bail on Monday and scheduled a bail hearing for Aug. 4.

A man has been charged in connection with a bizarre San Francisco-area kidnapping, which authorities initially deemed a hoax after the female victim reappeared in Southern California days after she was reported snatched. A June 29 complaint charging 38-year-old Matthew Muller with kidnapping was unsealed on Monday, and Muller was in custody, according to court documents provided by the FBI. The FBI declined to confirm the identities of the victims for privacy reasons, but local authorities and attorneys for the victims confirmed it was connected to the case of a woman whose boyfriend called Vallejo police in March to report that his live-in girlfriend had been abducted.

Disneyland employee accused of seeking sex from minor for park tickets

A Disneyland employee accused of offering what he thought was a 14-year-old girl tickets to the Southern California amusement park in exchange for sex acts was charged on Monday with attempting to commit sex crimes against a minor. Authorities say Darreck Michael Enciso, 27, posted an ad on Craigslist seeking women willing to engage in sex acts for Disneyland tickets, then arranged to meet an undercover police officer posing as the teen. Enciso, who works at the park in Anaheim, was taken into custody when he arrived at a pre-arranged meeting location in nearby Huntington Beach, carrying condoms and the tickets, according to a joint statement by police and the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
