Expanding the annual tradition during the month of November, restaurants in the upper Wenatchee Valley are donating their proceeds from Thursdays this month to Upper Valley Mend. Mend's Director Chuck Reppas joins Clint in the KOHO studio to tell us all about it and how the money benefits the Community Cupboard.


Un-Making a Bully

Through the Don't Wait Project, local students are creating PSAs to combat bullying in schools. The project's founder Lisa Bradshaw and filmmaker Mike Feurstein swing by the KOHO studio to talk about how writing, directing, filming and acting in these Public Service Announcements empower kids to stop bullying, gossip and discrimination.

Regional Support Network Update

Issues and deliberations continue with the Regional Support Network here in North Central Washington. A meeting last week of RSN board members, county commissioners and local legislators centered on the possibility of forming a regional service area in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan and Grant Counties. Senator Linda Evans-Parlette was at that meeting and spoke with our sister station KOZI in Chelan afterwards about their discussions and plans to reconfigure our RSN.

Local Apples Head Back to China

China has lifted their two-year ban on Red and Golden Delicious Apples from Washington State. Our apples could head across the Pacific as early as next week. For full details, Dan Langager spoke with Todd Fryhover, the President of the Washington Apple Commission, the international marketing arm for the state’s apple industry.


Pangborn Runway Extension Update

Efforts continue to extend the runway at the Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee. Earth is being turned this week as crews with Selland Construction begin to reroute utilities and tear down structures in the way of the longer airstrip. For full details, Dan Langager filed this report.
