Chelan PUD Finalizes 2015 Budget

Chelan County Public Utility District Commissioners passed their budget for next year unanimously this week. The Board said priorities include paying down debt, investing in dams and electric grid and keeping utility rates the same. Quite a different outlook compared to even a few years ago. For a closer look at the 2015 PUD budget, Dan Langager filed this report.

Removing Old Cars from the Methow River    

December 03, 2014
Restoration work is set to begin along the Methow River in Okanogan County removing old derelict cars embedded in the shoreline for over 60 years. Thanks to funding from the state Department of Natural Resources, the Methow Valley Salmon Recovery Foundation will use cranes to remove the cars, then restore vegetation and conduct overall river cleanup. Jay Witherbee with sister station KOZI in Chelan filed this report.

The numbers are in for employment here in Chelan and Douglas Counties for October. Each month, the state’s Employment Security Department releases both statewide and county statistics. The October numbers are hot off the spread sheet and to make sense of them, Dan spoke with Regional Labor Economist for NCW Don Meseck.
