Mills Canyon Fire Burn Assessment Complete   

August 19, 2014
It was the first major fire of our history-making season this year and started in early July, long before our fire season typically begins. Since then, the Mills Canyon Fire outside of Entiat has been fully contained, allowing teams with the Central Washington Burned Area Emergency Response, or BAER, to assess the damage and recommend plans for rehabilitation. For the details on the Mills Canyon assessment, Dan Langager filed this report.

Community Foundation Sends $100,000 to Fire Relief

The Community Foundation of NCW has invested $100,000 from its general fund towards long-term recovery efforts for fire relief victims in Okanogan County. Director of Community Philanthropy with the Foundation Denise Sorom joins Clint in the studio to talk about the funds, accompanied by Allison Williams with the city of Wenatchee to talk about ending the cycle of poverty in our community.

Becoming More Than Man's Best Friend

Imagine having a puppy that you could take everywhere with you, but then giving it up to a new owner less than two years later. Now think about handing that puppy over to a blind person and allowing it to lead that person through the rest of their life, serving as their eyes, and likely best friend. Citizens of our community are doing exactly that, in partnership with Guide Dogs for the Blind. KOHO intern Bryce Newberry filed this report on Pups 4 Partners.
