Since 1983, a coalition of public safety agencies have hosted an annual event to bring together the community and local law enforcement. Last night at Lincoln Park in Wenatchee over a dozen agencies and families from around the valley attended the 30th annual National Night Out.
The event allowed the community to meet the public safety professionals who work to keep the area safe. There were free hot dogs, live entertainment, and even an inflatable Bounce House for the kids. Parents could also get a laminated ID card with their child’s picture, finger print and other vital information in case of an emergency.
The community building campaign is designed to heighten crime prevention and community safety awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime and safety programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and build public safety and community partnerships.
Representatives from agencies across the valley were present, including Wenatchee Police Department, Lifeline and Ballard Ambulances, Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, East Wenatchee Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Rivercom 911, Red Cross and more.
