Washington is going to get a jumpstart on federal health care reform. On Monday the state got the OK along with 5 other states to go ahead with setting up a state-based health insurance exchange. Washington Healthplanfinder will be the online portal for people to compare and enroll in health insurance coverage starting next October.
Isaac Kaplan-Woolner spoke with a Healthplanfinder spokesman Michael Marchand about how this major reform to health care will unfold.
Washington was one of six states to get the early approval to set up the health insurance exchange announced Monday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The other states were: Maryland, Oregon, Massachusetts, Colorado and Connecticut.
