Two People In Custody After High-Speed Pursuit

October 19, 2009

At least two suspects

are in custody this morning following Sunday’s wild high-speed pursuit with authorities in the Wenatchee

area. It started at about 6 am on South Mission Street in Wenatchee and ended about 2:30 in the afternoon on the

other side of jump-off ridge in the Stemilt basin. It began when police officer from East Wenatchee spotted what

he believed to be a car prowl in progress. The officer gave chase when the suspects fled the scene in a jeep. The

officer reported that shots were fired at him from the passenger side window. A Chelan County Sheriff’s Sgt

joined the chase as it sped along the Malaga Alcoa Highway. The Deputy lost control of his car and crashed into

some rocks but he was later treated for minor injuries. The car of another deputy stalled on a rough stretch of

road as the chase made its way into the Stemilt Loop Road area. Several roads were closed off and residents were

notified as the pursuit continued thru the Wenatchee Heights and into the Colockum. The abandoned jeep was found

later on the southwest side of Jump-off ridge. Two people were detained for questioning but its reported that the

driver of the vehicle was still being sought as of late Sunday
