Swinford Pleads Not Guilty to Raney Murder

The Manson man accused in last month’s shooting death of Paul Raney says he’s not guilty of second degree

murder. Steven Swinford appeared in Chelan County Superior Court today for his arraignment.

The 20 year

old Swinford is accused of murdering 24 year old Raney after the two long-time friends got into an argument over

an IPod and an Xbox. Swinford remains in custody at the Chelan County Jail. His bail was set at one million

dollars. Prosecutor, Doug Shae commented after the hearing . .He said he had not yet completed his review of the

police reports. .

Friends and family members of the victims and defendant were at the courthouse but

they all declined comment with the media. Swinford appeared in court wearing a Mohawk and dressed in an orange

jail-issued jumpsuit. If convicted of second degree murder he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison and

a 50-thousand dollar fine.
