We spoke with Steven's Pass officials to get the full scoop.
Local mountain bikers are rejoicing. Stevens Pass announced Tuesday that after 5 years of planning, environmental review, and federal permitting, the downhill mountain bike park will finally be built.
An announcement posted on the Steven Pass Bike Park Facebook page reads, “we are excited to announce that the Stevens Pass Bike Park has gained final approval to begin construction.” The government has signed off on construction of phase one of the park.
The park promises to have fun, varied mountain bike terrain serviced by ski lifts. No uphill pedaling required.
But before you go strapping on you helmet and heading up Highway 2, yet more patience will be needed. Steven Pass announced that, “Given the time of the year and proximity of the coming winter, we will use the coming months to plan final construction details.” Trails will be built next season.
KOHO will have more information as soon as it becomes available.
