State Threatens to Pull Plug on Wenatchee Valley College Arts Center Funds

State budget cuts could pull the rug out

from under plans to build a new music and arts center at Wenatchee College. The College learned this week a 1.6

million dollar grant that had been promised by the State to help build the new facility could be cut. The

College’s vice president of administrative services, Suzie Benson explains what happened. .


President Jim Richardson said the project ultimately can’t happen without the state match. He says the cost of

construction totals $6.6 million.But, with design costs, architects’ fees, contingency and sales tax the total is

expected to reach $9 million.
