Washington state is seeing some serious job growth. In just the month of June, the state’s economy added almost 10,000 jobs. That’s up from the 4,600 new jobs in May.
Data released by the Washington State Employment Security Department yesterday shows a steady increase of job creation so far in 2013. The state’s unemployment rate, however, remains at 6.8 percent.
Industries with the most estimated job gains were construction, professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality. Construction has seen a bounce back due to the strengthening of the housing sector. More buildings are being constructed as well as more applications for building permits. Those factors suggest a forward moving industry but there remains a long way to go.
The bottom line is businesses are hiring, albeit hesitantly.
