Washington state is inching ever closure to finalized rules for its recreational marijuana industry. The state liquor control board will vote on those rules next week. And if approved, the license application process would begin in mid November. City’s here in north central Washington however are slightly more cautious to jump into the realm of legal pot sales.
Leavenworth, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee have all enacted six month moratoriums on marijuana sales.
Under state law, when a city puts up a moratorium, they have 60 days to hold a public hearing in order to get citizen input and feedback. The city of East Wenatchee hosted their public meeting Tuesday during a regular city council meeting.
The city of Leavenworth is hosting their mandatory public meeting Tuesday October 22 at 6:45 p.m. at Leavenworth city hall, 700 HWY 2. Chelan County Commissioners are also holding a public hearing to gather further comments. That hearing will take place at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the commission boardroom at 400 Douglas St., suite 201.
