At the stroke of midnight this morning, marijuana became legal in Washington State. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
But where, who, how, and how much? Several questions remain as the new law rolls out.
To find out more about what marijuana legalization actually means in Washington today, and some of the lingering questions about the law, Isaac Kaplan-Woolner turned to Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.
Burnett said he expects the marijuana legalization law to become clearer as prosecutors continue to refine and hand down instructions to law enforcement. But as of today, possession of up to an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and over is legal in Washington, and the new DUI provision is also in place. Marijuana remains illegal under federal law.
