Health District's 2010 Budget Prognosis : More Service Cuts

Officials with the Chelan/Douglas County Health District are preparing for another round of budget cuts next year. The financial ills that forced service cuts and layoffs at the public health agency this year could continue in 2010 according to a preliminary budget report presented to the Health District’s governing board on Monday. The Health District has seen a steady decline in State revenues over the past several years. District Manager, Barry Kling says further cuts are anticipated this year which could also mean more loss of services . .

Health District Administrator, Barry Kling. Last year Chelan and Douglas County had offered a bailout plan that would have helped narrow the budget gap. But the offer was rescinded because of a lack of city support.
