Fire Chief Michelle Ellis and Assistant Fuel Manager Cary Stock discussed staff reductions and the start of prescribed burning season. The Wenatchee River Ranger District will have two engines and one twenty person hand crew this summer, down from three engines and two fifteen person hand crews last year. But Ellis said the Leavenworth-based fire crew would have plenty of support from other area fire districts, if needed. Stock said spring burning should start by the middle of the month, if weather allows.
