Election Night Coverage

As preliminary results roll in for the 2012 election, here’s what we have so far in a selection of the top races. It appear Barack Obama has been re-elected president of the United States.
In Statewide races, Democrat Jay Inslee appears to have won the race for governor. Initiatives to legalize gay marriage and marijuana, allow charters schools, and require a supermajority of the legislature to raise taxes all appear to be passing. US Representative Republican Dave Reichert appears to have held off a challenge from Democrat Karen Porterfield for the newly redrawn 8th district.
In local races, challenger Brad Hawkins appears to have unseated legislator Mike Armstrong for the state’s 12 district in a hotly contested race. As of last night Hawkins led the 11-year incumbent Armstrong 52.22% to 47.78%. Representative Cary Condotta appears to have won an easy re-election, and Senator Linda Evans Parlette Was running unopposed.
Chelan County Commissioners Ron Walter and Doug England appear to have held on to their seats.
Leavenworth voters approved annexing the city into fire district 3..

Ballots can be dropped off or cast in person until 8pm tonight. Chelan County Auditor Skip Moore said preliminary results should be available around 8:15 tonight. Voters are deciding on the next President of the United States, as well as several important state and local races and initiatves. Moore expects a high 85% voter turnout.
