In an effort to include citizen input in the development of East Wenatchee’s Urban Growth Area, the city and Douglas County hosted a public workshop last night to discuss the Urban Growth Area boundaries, mainly in an eastward expansion, its land uses and design elements.
East Wenatchee Community Development Director Lori Barnett said the city of East Wenatchee is in the process of amending their comprehensive plan governing the city’s development and Urban Growth boundaries.
About 40 East Wenatchee citizens attended the third Urban Growth Area expansion public workshop, held at the City Council Chambers. Attendants asked questions, reviewed the previous workshops’ deliberations and explored ideas on developing rural areas of the city. The meeting culminated in the attendees forming a preliminary preferred plan that will be presented to the City Council and County Commission in the next two weeks.
