a budget proviso directing the transportation department to move ownership of the trail so that surplus land

southeast of the Odabashian Bridge could be sold. Within that proviso, the trail’s property cannot be sold

by the city or county and must be maintained as a public trail, effectively securing its future as a permanent

community asset. Exploration by the city and DOT on how to handle the surplus property and future developments will begin this

fall. A signing ceremony to commemorate the transfer is set for June 25 at the Douglas County Transportation and

Land Services Facility at 3:30 p.m.
