Early Learning Officials Present Improvement Plan to Governor Gregoire

December 08, 2009

Is your 5-year-old adequately prepared for kindergarten? Is he or she just as

prepared as all of Washington’s tots? The answer may be no, according to state early education officials.

They say there are problems with programs that prepare young children for their school days, and access to those

programs is not equal. So they have presented a plan to Governor Gregoire to improve early education, despite the

economic downturn.

Nina Aurbach with Thrive by 5 Washington says that investing in

early education can actually pay for itself quite dramatically. Listen to the included audio for more from KOHO's

Isaac Kaplan-Woolner.
