The wildfire up Eagle Creek northeast of Leavenworth continues to burn. Officials estimated it is around 1,186 acres in size thanks to more accurate mapping. Containment level is around 10 percent.
The fire began around 2 pm Monday. It’s located about five miles northeast of Leavenworth near the top of a ridge between Eagle Creek and Bjork Canyon, east of Chumstick Highway. The cause is still under investigation.
The fire has reached Eagle Creek Road in several areas, causing level 3 evacuations for 27 homes. The remainder of the residences between Bjork Canyon and the Van Creek area, approx. 38 to 40 in number, are at level 2 evacuation notice.
