What do you want to see in downtown Wenatchee? Do we need more bike racks and benches? Clearer crosswalks? Maybe you think there should be more planter barrels, flower and trees. Or perhaps you just want to keep the large truck traffic off Wenatchee Avenue.
All these possibilities and more are in discussion right now through the Wenatchee Avenue Improvements Project. The project is a joint effort between the Wenatchee Downtown Association, the city of Wenatchee and SCJ Alliance, an engineering and planning consultation firm contracted by the city.
Last night, these groups hosted a public open house, inviting residents and business owners to view potential plans for downtown improvements, ask questions and voice their opinions. Repaving and infrastructure upgrades of Wenatchee Avenue are slated to begin next spring and the city is taking the opportunity to also improve some aesthetic elements.
Over 30 people attended the open house, which allowed attendees to fill out idea forms, view drawings and mock-ups for potential improvements and speak with engineers from SCJ Alliance.
