July 10, 2010

A brush fire has spread to about 40 acres of land 2 miles west of Cashmere

off Mission Creek Road. Officials say it was first reported shortly after midnight. Rural fire district crews

along with State and US Forest Service  are on the scene of the three-alarm fire. Two helicopters are also

making water drops. No injuries or structure damage reported. The fire is burning on a slope bordered by

orchard land.  The fire's cause is under investigation. Level one evacuation notices have been issued for

several homes in the area but none are currently being threatened.
