Cashmere Woman Injured in Train Versus Car Collision

December 07, 2010

A 77 year old

Cashmere woman came away with a broken arm after a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train struck her car

Monday morning. A report from the Chelan county sheriff’s department says it happened at a railroad crossing

on Old Monitor Road about a mile west of Monitor. The Ford Explorer driven by Martha McDonald had just crossed the

tracks when the train struck the vehicle’s rear end. Railroad officials say the traffic barrier and crossing

warning lights were all working properly. McDonald was treated and released from the hospital.
